U okviru programa Festivala vjetra, Biciklistički savez Crne Gore, Biciklistički klub Durmitor, Triatlon klub Herceg Novi i JK Delfin ove godine po prvi put organizuju MTB vikend u Herceg Novom, sa ciljem razvoja urbane i outdoor biciklističke scene, promocije aktivnog turizma i afirmacije Herceg Novog kao regionalne destinacije za savremene sportske događaje.

Prvobitno planirani trodnevni program trebalo je da kulminira trkom Urban Downhill Herceg Novi, spektakularnim spustom hercegnovskim skalinama kroz gradsko jezgro, što bi predstavljalo prvi događaj ovog formata u ovom dijelu Evrope.

Međutim, nakon sprovedene procedure i dobijenog negativnog mišljenja Uprave za zaštitu kulturnih dobara, organizatori su donijeli odluku da se ovogodišnje izdanje urbane trke ne realizuje.

Iako gradska trasa neće biti održana, organizatori ističu da Urban Downhill kao ideja ne odustaje, već da se otvara prostor za ozbiljniji institucionalni dijalog i kvalitetniju pripremu narednog izdanja.

„Ovaj događaj zaslužuje da postane manifestacija cijelog grada. Želimo da u narednom periodu otvorimo konstruktivan dijalog o pravilima, mogućnostima i modelima realizacije kako bi Wind Fest Urban Downhill Herceg Novi u budućnosti bio organizovan na još ozbiljnijem nivou i uz podršku svih relevantnih institucija“, poručuju organizatori.

Program Wind Fest MTB vikenda zato je reorganizovan i nastavlja se na off-road lokacijama u zaleđu Herceg Novog:

U petak, 22.maja, Novljane i goste očekuje Pump Track Session u Igalu, subota, 23.maj, rezervisana je za trening vožnje Borići – Dizdarica, dok će glavni događaj-  Wind Fest Downhill trka sa mjerenjem vremena u Borićima biti održana u nedjelju, 24.maja, kao posljednji događaj Festivala vjetra 2026.

Nova lokacija donosi potpuno drugačiji, šumski i tehnički zahtjevan ambijent na obroncima Orjena, uz zadržavanje takmičarskog i festivalskog duha događaja.

Organizatori pozivaju sve vozače, ljubitelje biciklizma i publiku da podrže prvo izdanje Wind Fest MTB vikenda u Herceg Novom i budu dio razvoja događaja koji ima potencijal da preraste u jednu od najatraktivnijih regionalnih biciklističkih manifestacija.

Takmičari koji su već izvršili uplatu startnine za Wind Fest Urban Downhill Herceg Novi mogu izabrati prebacivanje prijave na trku u Borićima ili refundaciju sredstava, poručuju organizatori.

As part of the Festival of Wind programme, the Cycling Federation of Montenegro, Cycling Club Durmitor, Triathlon Club Herceg Novi and Sailing Club Delfin are this year jointly organising the first-ever MTB Weekend in Herceg Novi, with the goal of developing the urban and outdoor cycling scene, promoting active tourism, and positioning Herceg Novi as a regional destination for contemporary sports events.

The original three-day programme was set to culminate with the Urban Downhill Herceg Novi race — a spectacular downhill ride through the town’s iconic stairways and historic streets — envisioned as the first event of its kind in this part of Europe.

However, following the official review process and a negative opinion issued by the Administration for the Protection of Cultural Properties, the organisers have decided not to proceed with this year’s urban race edition.

Although the city-centre course will not take place this year, the organisers emphasise that the Urban Downhill concept itself is not being abandoned. Instead, this moment opens space for a more serious institutional dialogue and stronger preparation for future editions.

“This event deserves to become a manifestation embraced by the entire city. In the coming period, we want to open a constructive dialogue about the rules, possibilities and implementation models, so that Wind Fest Urban Downhill Herceg Novi can in the future be organised on an even higher level and with the support of all relevant institutions,” the organisers stated.

The Wind Fest MTB Weekend programme has therefore been reorganised and will continue on off-road locations in the hinterland of Herceg Novi:

On Friday, May 22, visitors and local riders can expect a Pump Track Session in Igalo. Saturday, May 23, is reserved for training rides on the Borići–Dizdarica trail, while the main event — the timed Wind Fest Downhill race in Borići — will take place on Sunday, May 24, as the closing event of the WindFest 2026 programme.

The new location brings a completely different atmosphere — forest terrain and technically demanding downhill sections on the slopes of Orjen — while preserving the competitive spirit and festival energy of the event.

The organisers invite all riders, cycling enthusiasts and visitors to support the first edition of the Wind Fest MTB Weekend in Herceg Novi and become part of the development of an event with the potential to grow into one of the region’s most attractive cycling festivals.

Competitors who have already paid their registration fee for Wind Fest Urban Downhill Herceg Novi may choose either to transfer their registration to the Borići race or request a refund, the organisers added.
