Panel II: UNESCO i budućnost kruzinga u Zalivu

📍 Slavjanska čitaonica, Dobrota  |  8. maj 2026. | 09:00h

Konferenciju partnerski organizuju Jedriličarski klub „Delfin“, Pomorski fakultet Kotor Univerziteta Crne Gore i Institut za biologiju mora UCG, uz podršku opština Tivat i Kotor.

Kroz dijalog politike, nauke i zajednice, konferencija ima za cilj da otvori ključna pitanja upravljanja obalnim prostorom, zaštite morske životne sredine i očuvanja kulturnog pejzaža Boke Kotorske.

Značaj konferencije prepoznat je i na međunarodnom nivou – organizacija The Ocean Race Europe govori o ovoj inicijativi na svom zvaničnom web sajtu, ističući njen edukativni i društveni doprinos u okviru šire misije zaštite svjetskog okeana.

Uvodna prezentacija pružiće uvid u modele upravljanja pomorskim saobraćajem u osjetljivim obalnim područjima, dok će panel otvoriti prostor za dijalog o konkretnim koracima ka održivom i uravnoteženom razvoju kruzing turizma u Boki.

Cilj ovog skupa je da, kroz otvorenu i argumentovanu raspravu, doprinese definisanju budućih smjernica koje će istovremeno štititi izuzetnu univerzalnu vrijednost područja i omogućiti odgovorno korišćenje njegovih razvojnih potencijala.

Panel II: UNESCO and the Future of Cruising in the Bay

📍 Slavjanska Reading Room, Dobrota | May 8, 2026 | 9:00 AM

Following the successful realization of previous editions, the international scientific and professional conference “Boka Kotorska as a Sustainable Nautical Destination” expands in 2026 into a broader, two-day format taking place in Tivat and Kotor. The conference is jointly organized by Jedriličarski klub Delfin, the Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor of the University of Montenegro, and the Institute of Marine Biology of the University of Montenegro, with the support of the municipalities of Tivat and Kotor.

Through dialogue between policymakers, scientists, and the community, the conference aims to address key issues related to coastal zone management, marine environmental protection, and the preservation of the cultural landscape of the Bay of Kotor.

The importance of the conference has also been recognized internationally — The Ocean Race Europe has highlighted this initiative on its official website, emphasizing its educational and social contribution within the broader mission of protecting the world’s oceans.

The entire conference is chaired by Zorica Đurović, Vice Dean for Development and Communications at the Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor, while the organization of the Tivat segment is led by Slavi Petović, scientific advisor at the Institute of Marine Biology Kotor of the University of Montenegro.

The Kotor segment of the conference focuses on the issue of sustainably regulating cruise tourism in the context of UNESCO protection of Kotor and the Bay of Kotor.

The panel discussion will gather representatives of port authorities, government institutions, experts in maritime safety and protected area management, as well as international guests from Croatia with experience in regulating navigation in protected zones. An introductory presentation will provide insight into maritime traffic management models in sensitive coastal areas, while the panel itself will open dialogue on concrete steps toward sustainable and balanced development of cruise tourism in the Bay of Kotor.

The goal of this gathering is to contribute, through open and well-argued discussion, to defining future guidelines that will simultaneously protect the outstanding universal value of the area while enabling the responsible use of its development potential.
